![]() Floaters: Floaters can take on a variety of shapes and sizes. ![]() Sometimes, you may still notice an occasional flash of light – this is quite common and normal. This is because the vitreous will no longer be pulling on the retina. Once the vitreous is fully detached from the retina, the frequency of flashing lights will diminish and eventually they disappear. As a result, the photoreceptors send multiple nerve impulses to your brain and you perceive multiple, short flashes of light. These flashes occur due to stimulation of the retinal photoreceptors when the vitreous humor pulls away. They are more obvious in the dark, and can be brought on by moving your eyes.
